Buñuelos usually consist of a simple yeast dough, often flavoured with aniseed. This is rolled out thinly, made into balls and deep-fried. Buñuelos can also be prepared with sweet or savoury fillings. In Latin America, buñuelos are seen as a symbol of good luck. In Colombia, they are traditionally eaten at Christmas, together with 'natilla' or 'manjar blanco'.
