Pé de moleque (pronounced "pee-chee-mo-leek") literally means "street child's foot." It's a traditional Brazilian sweet made from peanuts and sugar or sugarcane molasses.
The name originates from the fact that most of the paved roads in colonial Brazil were made by laying various unusual rocks in a loose layer of sand and having street children stamp on them to smooth the surface. The appearance of the peanuts, stuck together with sugarcane molasses, resembled this type of paving.
